Map of Leiden's city center. Canals form a network of differently colored 'Metreau lines'. Along these lines are stops, each with its own name. The stop names refer to historical, contemporary, and possibly future places, people, and events at that location.

The logo in the upper left corner consists of a highly stylized waterway pattern of Leiden's city center.

The design of this map is based on the famous London Underground map of Harry Beck, first published in 1931. Beck's design, in which exclusively horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines are used, shows notable similarities with the principles of De Stijl.
