This lady is in the dark about what she is looking at.
‘ The idea has not been materialized, but merely visualized. ’
Antilight
antilight art — 2020, ongoing
installation, video art
In 1915 Kazimir Malevich painted his ‘Black Square’ on canvas. He wanted to break with the current art of imitating reality and only showed this very reality itself: the materialization of an idea. Antilight goes a step further and shows less than reality itself. It shows the nothing. The idea has not been materialized, but merely visualized.
With this work, I question whether what we see is always what we think we see. Because we don't always believe what we see (in this case, not see), the work periodically reverses itself and reveals our disbelief.

Antilight (2020)
